{"id":4005,"date":"2018-12-21T12:52:38","date_gmt":"2018-12-21T17:52:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.dankohn.info\/?p=4005"},"modified":"2020-08-17T17:34:17","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T17:34:17","slug":"amazon-to-make-its-engineering-training-courses-available-for-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.dankohn.info\/index.php\/2018\/12\/21\/amazon-to-make-its-engineering-training-courses-available-for-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon To Make Its Engineering Training Courses Available For Free."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2018\/11\/26\/amazon-says-its-making-freely-available-the-same-machine-learning-courses-that-it-uses-to-teach-its-own-engineers\/\">TechCrunch<\/a> (11\/26, Loizos) reports that AWS announced Monday \u201cit has made available, for free, the same machine learning courses that it uses to train its own engineers.\u201d Paraphrasing Amazon GM of AI and Deep Learning Dr. Matt Wood, TechCrunch says \u201cthere are more than 45 hours across 30 different courses that developers, data scientists, data platform engineers, and business professionals can take gratis.\u201d Wood said each lesson \u201cstarts with the fundamentals, and builds on those through real-world examples and labs, allowing developers to explore machine learning through some fun problems we have had to solve at Amazon.\u201d According to TechCrunch, the company \u201cis also introducing its own machine-learning certification that customers can take right now for half price.\u201d TechCrunch says, \u201cPresumably, part of the idea is to enhance Amazon\u2019s retail pages, as well to potentially to recruit more people into the company so it can accelerate its own growth.
